Jānis cried the first time he walked on his familyfarm in Latvia. And it still happens after dozens ofvisits. Why? He wasn’t born in Latvia. He was born in adisplaced persons’ camp during his parent’s six-year escape from the Soviet invasion of Latvia. Eventually he immigrated to the UnitedStates.
