The Head of the Museum will be Antija Erdmane-Hermane
From 1 August 2024, the Latvian Museum of Photography will be headed by Antija Erdmane-Hermane. Since 2017, she has worked as the Collection Manager of the Latvian Museum of Photography collection, and from 2019 until her change of position, she served as the Collection Manager of the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation.
In cooperation with the architectural office ‘Gaiss,’ a modern and multifunctional space for museum visitors has been created, and work continues on furnishing the museum’s collection and specialist offices.
Yesterday was my first day at work, and it began with the task of furnishing the museum’s public space. This will be a place to meet, study, think, and discuss Latvian photography. The museum’s collection will be showcased through small exhibitions. The biggest challenge will be setting up a specialized photography library, which will be accessible to the public for the first time, featuring around 7,000 books. The museum team is currently working hard to open the new space as soon as possible. At the opening celebration, we will share our vision for the future of the museum,” says the new Head of the Museum.
See you there!
